Using more than one color or door style in an IKEA kitchen can break up the space visually, giving added interest and variety to the space. We used RAMSJO doors in white and black-brown for this beautiful two-toned kitchen. The total cost for cabinets was $4917.

What are accent doors and how are they used in a kitchen?
An accent door is not usually used throughout an entire kitchen, but is used as a decorative accent. This can include glass doors, mullion doors, darker or lighter doors, aluminum frames or stainless steel… you name it. This time, we used different colors for the design as well as a few glass doors.
Some uses for accent doors are the following:
- At both sides of the range
- Over the sink and around a window
- A dark color for base cabinets and a light color for wall cabinets
- For tall cabinets or pantries
- At corner cabinets
Why using accent doors for this kitchen?
Meet the kitchen before its IKEA makeover: all in beige. So overused. Beige can be a beautiful color if it’s combined with other colors to create a nice contrast but… when you use too much of it, the end result can be bland. It’s just that it is too often used as a default, with no real thought about tone, hue, value and what other colors might look great with it.
Our customer likes beige a lot, so we suggested combining it with other colors. Beige can be used on the wall instead of the entire kitchen. Accent doors are great for this purpose!
