Cookie sheets, baking pans, and serving trays are sometimes a challenge to store and organize in any kitchen. What you need is a storage solution for your baking trays that’s affordable and simple!
If you lay them down on a single shelf, other things are bound to get set down on top of them, and then it’s hard to get to them easily. If you lay them on top of other things, their size and shape may cause things to slide around, and set off a small kitchen avalanche.
If this sounds familiar to you, check out our simple storage solution from IKEA for baking trays:
The great thing about these shelves is that they keep baking trays accessible and visible. Since these extra shelves go all the way through the cabinet, they keep baking trays from leaning over or tumbling down. These extra shelves can be easily installed because AKURUM cabinets from IKEA have pre-drilled holes for their shelves. (Just don’t forget to add shelf support pegs similar to these!)
A tall cabinet used for a wall oven is usually not the easiest place to reach in a kitchen. By adding extra shelves that have been cut down from panels, your baking trays and cookie sheets will be easy to see and reach, creating this practical storage solution:
Here’s what you’ll need for this storage solution:
- 1 High cabinet for a single oven and 4 doors, ADEL white
- 4 PERFEKT cover panel, white, 3′x8′ (this the material that’ll be used for the extra shelves)
- 1 set of AKURUM cabinet legs
- 2 PERFEKT ADEL cover panel for a high cabinet, 80″
- 1 PERFEKT ADEL plinth (for the toe-kick)
- TOTAL: $969.00
For the upper part of the tall cabinet, we’ve used 9 shelves for vertical dividers, giving us a total of 10 spaces of 2 5/16″ wide each. (The cabinet is 30″ wide). For the lower part of the cabinet, we used extra horizontal shelves, leaving a space of about 4 5/16″, creating 6 spaces. Use the bottom part of your tall oven cabinet for the deeper baking trays used for dishes such as lasagnas or casseroles and the upper part for your thinner, longer trays.
